Questions people ask

Does a cracked wall always mean it needs to be fully re rendered?

No. Most cracks and hollow patches can be cut out and repaired without redoing the whole wall. If the render underneath is genuinely too far gone to patch, we will show you why in the photos rather than patch over it.

What causes render to crack in the first place?

Normal building movement, age, and water getting in around sills, copings or junctions are the most common causes. Cork's weather does not help, wind driven rain finds any weak point over time.

How long does a render repair or seal last?

It depends on which side of the house it is on and how much weather that wall takes. A wall facing the prevailing wind and rain will need attention sooner than a sheltered gable. We will tell you what to expect for your actual house.

Can you match a repair into the existing render so it does not stand out?

Yes, blending the patch in is part of the job, not an extra. The aim is a repair you cannot spot from the footpath.

Do I need to be home while the work is done?

Not necessarily, as long as we can access the areas that need checking. We will ring before we start and send photos and the price to your phone the same day.

What is the difference between scratch, sand and silicone finishes?

They are different final coats with different textures and maintenance needs. We will talk you through which suits your house and budget when we quote.

Do you also seal and repoint patios and driveways?

Yes. While we are on site for render work we reseal and repoint patios and driveways, clean them up, and take on smaller exterior repairs like paths and steps, so you are not bringing in a second tradesperson.
